The name Punta Gorda, is Spanish for “Fat Point” and refers to the fat point of land that protrudes into the waters of Charlotte Harbor.  Those waters provide over 70 miles of man-made and natural canals that create the highly-desired waterfront living lifestyle found here.  Punta Gorda is rich in history and intrigue, from its early days of discovery by Ponce De Leon, to the City’s founding father Isaac Trabue,  to the gorgeous Hotel Punta Gorda that was owned by Barron Collier and Cornelius Vanderbilt and burned to the ground in 1959, to the devastating direct hit by Hurricane Charley on Friday August 13th, 2004.

Punta Gorda FL is truly a hidden gem along the Gulf Coast of Southwest Florida.  Rated by Rand McNally as one of America’s best small towns and Money Magazine as one of the healthiest places to retire, Punta Gorda has a little bit of everything for most people.  Located on the southern banks of Charlotte Harbor, Punta Gorda is home to world-class fishing, boating, sailing, and waterfront living.  It is here that one can truly enjoy the Florida lifestyle in one of Florida’s safest cities.
